Thomas Ron Pilot was a Philadelphia area businessman with a passion for politics, public service, people, and the Jersey Shore. Mr. Pilot's other passion was helping troubled youth turn their lives around. He served for decades on the board at The Glen Mills Schools, which was founded in 1826 with a mission to help at-risk youth achieve their full potential.
In the 1990s, Mr. Pilot conceived of a golf course where the students of The Glen Mills Schools could work to maintain the grounds, manage the pro shop, pro-socially interact, and learn about the game of golf. Mr. Pilot lead the effort which resulted in The Golf Course at Glen Mills being created! We honor his legacy today through the Thomas Ron Pilot Scholarship Outing, held each year to benefit students in the community in pursuit of their educational dreams in colleges and universities.
